Taiwanese language teaching and theories: communication, innovation, Taiwanization

Within the framework of Taiwanese language teaching and theories, this colloquium is co-organized by the Chair of Taiwanese Studies at Inalco, the National Normal University of Kaohsiung and the International Center for Taiwanese Studies at the National Normal University of Taiwan, and will focus on three dimensions of discussion and reflection: circulation, innovation and Taiwanization. The notion of language will be considered from a perspective that encompasses both oral and written forms. In the future, another symposium will be organized to specifically explore the dimensions of literature and culture.
The "circulation" dimension will focus on the teaching of Taiwanese languages and the current state of associated linguistic theories around the world, as well as the channels, contexts and processes of dissemination. Exchanges may also include a reflection on the interaction between these dynamics and the changing international context.
"Innovation", meanwhile, will question the collaboration between Taiwanese language teaching, contemporary theoretical advances and new media, taking into account their specificities and modes of development. The concept of innovation will be defined here as "the ability to build on pre-existing structures while integrating new elements or possibilities in a contemporary context". This analytical framework will make it possible to simultaneously examine intergenerational transmission logics and generational ruptures.
Integrating the concept of "Taiwanization" will offer researchers from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to examine how Taiwanization features and development phenomena specific to Taiwanese languages emerge in the dynamics of diffusion and innovation. This reflection will be placed in perspective with the current situation of national language policies in Taiwan, in order to foster an analysis that is both multidimensional and organic. Colloquium themes:
1. History and evolution of language teaching programs in Taiwan
2. Communication networks and the benefits of Taiwanese language teaching programs
3. Development and dissemination of Taiwanese language theories
4. Case studies of Taiwanese language teaching through the media
5. Taiwanese language teaching methods and strategies: generational transformations
6. Reflections on the notion of "Taiwanization" in the evolution of Taiwanese language teaching and theories
7. Interaction between contemporary Taiwanese language curriculum planning and national language development
