Memory of a society and technique of an art: the contemporaneity of puppets in the world and Taiwanese puppets in France
As part of the exhibition devoted to Taiwanese puppetry in France, organized in collaboration with the Chair of Taiwanese Studies at Inalco, the Taipei Center for Puppetry Arts, the International Center for Taiwanese Studies at the National Normal University of Taiwan and the Théâtre aux Mains Nues, a study day dedicated to this art form is proposed.
This study day will be structured around the following four themes:
1. What is the place of puppets in the contemporary world, and how do they fit into the current dynamics of artistic creation?
2. How do puppets and their creations play a mediating role in the transmission and understanding of knowledge about the world?
3. How can the art of puppetry contribute to reflections on contemporary geopolitical and diplomatic issues?
4. What are the influences of techniques and experiences from Pòo-tē-hì (Taiwanese puppet theater) on puppetry practice in France?
