Presentation

On July 23, 1952, the Free Officers took power in Egypt. Between August 1953 and January 1954, Gamal Abdel Nasser signed three press articles entitled La Philosophie de la Révolution. In them, he asserted that the army's movement was not a coup d'état but a revolution.

The first part of the present book offers a critical edition in Arabic of these three articles, as well as an original critical translation into French. The second part of the book approaches The Philosophy of Revolution in two ways. On the one hand, the birth and fortunes of this now-famous text are placed in their historical context. On the other, the text is analyzed in such a way as to provide food for thought on the place of social justice and culture within national liberation struggles.

The overall ambition is to participate in the still incomplete disappearance of the colonial legacy in both post-colonial and post-imperial nation-states.

On the other hand, animals are at the heart of colonial relations.
