"Les mots des Ados", an illustrated lexicon created by young people from the Chronos & Kaïros association, with the help of teacher Mériam Cheikh.

"Wesh", "meskin", "mashallah", so many Arabic terms that have enriched French slang for decades. Young people from the Chronos & Kaïros association, located in our Grands Moulins neighborhood, knocked on the door of the Department of Arabic Studies so that we could explain the etymology of these words they use on a daily basis, and whose meanings are known to some thanks to their family bilingualism.

What the young people wanted was more: they wanted to know the history of these words and their journey. Accompanied by the association's leaders, they came to collect this information, which was very useful in the creation of their little lexicon, illustrated by them, simply entitled "Les mots des ados" and which we are delighted to share with you.

Mériam Cheikh, anthropologist and youth specialist in Morocco, welcomed them to Inalco's Pôle des Langues et Civilisations and answered their linguistic questions, as well as those they had in large numbers about our institute.
