FICA 2022: discover the prizes awarded by the Inalco jury
Once again this year, Inalco enthusiastically joined forces with FICA to share our knowledge and understanding of the world's plurality.
The Inalco Jury, made up of 4 members (Jean-Michel Butel, Tajamul Faqiri-Choisy, Babak Inanlou and Mathilde Pelletier), awarded the Inalco Prize and Coup de Coeur on Tuesday February 8 at the festival's closing ceremony.
Inalco Prize
Our jury chose to award the Inalco Prize to Along the Sea (Umibe no Kanojotachi) by Fujimoto Akio. He wanted to reward a film that sheds particularly significant light on contemporary realities in Asia. It was won over by the accuracy and sobriety with which Along the Sea tells the story of migrant women in Japan, and the immense respect the film shows for its protagonists.
Fujimoto Akio's second feature film also won the Grand Jury Prize and the Critics' Jury Prize. It will be screened in the Inalco auditorium during the 2022-2023 cultural season.
Coup de cœur Inalco
The Inalco jury's coup de cœur went to The Coffin Painter (Yi xiang lai ke) by Da Fei "for the beauty of its images and the brilliance with which it was able to transport us to the far reaches of contemporary China to tell us a tender and universal story".
Supervised by Florian Nermont from the TICE (Technologies de l'information et de la communication pour l'enseignement et usages numériques) department, the Inalco jury members conducted six interviews during the festival. They had the honor of interviewing renowned guests including Leila Hatami, Atiq Rahimi, Kôji Fukada, Soraya Akhlaqi, Watanabe Kazutakan, as well as festival president Martine Thérouanne, in their native languages (Iranian Persian, Afghan Persian and Japanese). These interviews will be available shortly on our YouTube channel.
