Teaching
The candidate recruited must have a perfect command of Syrian-Lebanese Arabic. The courses and seminars to be taught require the future professor to have specialized training and solid skills in sociolinguistics and dialectology. Recognized professional experience in the teaching of Arabic dialect in higher education will be particularly appreciated.
The courses and seminars to be taught by the recruited professor correspond to courses included in the Bachelor's degree in Oriental Arabic and the Master's degree in "Arabic Studies". The person recruited will be required to teach courses covering all levels of the Arabic curriculum. In particular, he/she will have to carry out the following tasks:
- Teach the language, grammar and linguistics of Syro-Lebanese Arabic in the department, at L1, L2 and L3 levels.
- Take part in Master's courses and doctoral seminars.
- Give full scope to the sociolinguistics and dialectology of Arabic at these different levels.
- Supervise research at Master's and doctoral levels in these fields.
In addition, the professor recruited will take part in coordinating teaching in conjunction with the various teaching teams in the "Arabic Studies" department; He (she) will take part in preparing programs, drawing up, monitoring and improving mock-ups. He/she will also be involved in the creation of digital teaching resources and distance learning (teaching materials and documents in the context of ICTE: MOOCs of Syro-Lebanese varieties; hybridization of language training; etc).
He/she will be responsible for all administrative tasks inherent in teaching and research in Syro-Lebanese Arabic within the framework of the department and the establishment. As a professor, he/she will also be expected to participate in the institution's governing bodies (department, central councils, various commissions).
He/she may, depending on his/her specialist discipline, provide part of his/her service in cross-disciplinary teaching within his/her department or across the institution at bachelor's and master's levels.
He/she is likely to be involved in the pedagogical and methodological support of students and to provide teaching in English.

Research
The candidate will consider the convergence between his/her work and Inalco's intellectual and scientific identity, as embodied in the collective projects carried out by the establishment and its research units. Depending on his or her specialties, the teacher-researcher recruited will be able to join the research unit of his or her choice from among Inalco's own teams and UMRs under the (co)supervision of Inalco, in particular:
The candidate must have demonstrated research activity based on Syro-Lebanese Arabic corpora, collected in the field, and scientific contributions and publications focusing on Syro-Lebanese Arabic. They will develop research in the fields of linguistics and sociolinguistics of Syro-Lebanese Arabic.
They will develop their research work within the CERMOM host team (Research Center for the Middle East and Mediterranean, EA 4091). They will contribute to strengthening research in Arabic linguistics and sociolinguistics, in particular through :
- Organization of and participation in seminars, colloquia and study days
- Contribution to collective publications or international scientific events
- Participation in the organization and management of cooperative programs with other foreign research institutions.
