Teaching

The candidate must be a teacher of the Turkish language. Their skills will be put to use in reinforcing fundamental language teaching (Turkish) at LLCER Bachelors and Masters levels, in a Turkish section whose numbers are growing and which is experiencing a lack of training and supervision in language and linguistics.

They will help consolidate the teaching of Turkish and supervise the teaching of the other Turkic languages taught at INALCO (Ottoman Turkish, Chagatai, Tatar, Azeri, Kazakh, Uyghur and Uzbek - Kyrgyz and Turkmen are also part of the teaching offer). Established competence in one of these languages is highly desirable.

The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the development of teaching tools, particularly digital ones, as part of the establishment's development of hybrid or distance learning courses. Competence in ICTE and thinking about digital pedagogy is desirable.

Depending on the candidate's specialist discipline, part of their teaching duties may be devoted to cross-disciplinary teaching within their department, or institution-wide at bachelor's and master's level.

They may also be called upon to provide pedagogical and methodological support to students, and to teach in English.

Research

The lecturer recruited should have solid research and publication experience in philology or linguistics (descriptive, typological, theoretical or textual), in connection with Turkish and/or one of the Turkic languages (Ottoman Turkish, Chagatai, Tatar, Azeri, Kazakh, Uyghur, Uzbek, Kirghiz, Turkmen...).

He/she must present a research project falling within the axes of one of the proposed teams, and must contribute to its scientific animation, in particular through:

  •  organizing and participating in seminars, colloquia and study days;
  •  contributing to collective publications or international scientific events;
  •  participating in the organization and management of cooperative programs with foreign research institutions.

The candidate will consider the convergence between his/her work and Inalco's intellectual and scientific identity, as embodied in the collective projects carried out by the establishment and its research units. Depending on his or her specialties, the recruited teacher-researcher will be able to join the research unit of his or her choice from among Inalco's own teams and UMRs under the (co)supervision of Inalco, in particular:
