Inalco strengthens its research partnerships in Asia
With this in mind, Jean-François Huchet, President of Inalco, Peter Stockinger, Vice-Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board and Gilles Forlot, Vice-Chairman for International Relations, visited Beijing, Hong Kong and Singapore in October. Two framework agreements were signed. They cover scientific, academic and pedagogical collaboration.
Inalco's expertise is particularly appreciated and sought after in the following fields: research in linguistics and areal studies, language and civilization teaching, and expertise in the geographical areas of Africa and the Middle East.

Research cooperation with BLCU and Peking University
In Beijing, Inalco has signed an agreement with Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). A scientific partnership is also planned with Peking University's Institute for Advanced Studies, which is offering to host two Inalco researchers from March 2020.

Cooperation with HKBU and research projects with HKUST (Hong Kong)
In Hong Kong, Jean-François Huchet has signed an agreement with Roland Chin, President of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). The aim is to welcome students from HKBU's European section to Inalco from September 2020 to take civilization courses. The challenge for HKBU students is to complement their curriculum with multi-disciplinary international expertise. Meetings were also held at the Hong Kong University of Sciences and Technology (HKUST), which offers very interesting prospects for social science research, particularly in East Asia.

First contacts with the University of Macau
Inalco's Vice President for International Relations was received by his counterpart from the University of Macau, and discussions were held on the pedagogical and scientific prospects between the two establishments. Scientific cooperation in certain areas of Inalco's expertise, notably Chinese, African and Middle Eastern studies, could be envisaged.

Scientific and educational projects with NUS (Singapore)
Inalco has signed an agreement with the Faculty of Arts & Humanities of the National University of Singapore (NUS). The agreement covers scientific projects and the hosting of students. The two institutions have already carried out a number of research projects jointly funded by USPC and NUS
