The conference will seek to provide an overview of Ukrainian studies in Europe and beyond. Academics, along with representatives of public institutions and private sector organisations, will highlight the importance of developing this discipline to respond to the current needs of experts on Ukraine in Europe. This demand has intensified since the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the country's potential accession to the EU, affecting various sectors such as diplomacy, humanitarian work, business and European institutions. The attached report “Ukrainian Studies in Europe” maps out the current Ukrainian studies programmes across the continent.

The conference is organised as part of the EUkraine Forum project. This project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme (KA220), aims to support the development of Ukrainian studies in Europe and, indirectly, Ukraine's current accession procedure to the European Union. It is conducted by Inalco, the University of Warsaw, Charles University in Prague and the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Based on the conference results, the consortium will launch a development plan that includes recommendations for European universities and decision-makers on how to adapt Ukrainian studies to meet current needs.
