Japan Cultural Day
Organized by student associations, the aim of these cultural days is to showcase the culture(s) of a given geographical area by offering a range of free activities open to all.
On this day organized by the student association Dejima, visitors can discover the various aspects of traditional Japanese culture through discovery stands and lectures and performances in the auditorium. From traditional Japanese dance, through zither and drum performances, to the art of Japanese storytelling, immerse yourself in the Japanese arts. Learn calligraphy, origami, traditional games and the tea ceremony. Taste Japanese dishes and finally, round off this wonderful day with karaoke, an unmissable tradition in the history of Japan Day.
Program
2nd floor hall
- 10am-4pm: tombola, La Boutique Chou (Japanese-inspired stationery and illustrations), Le Phénix bookshop (Asian specialist)
- 11am-1pm: saveurs du Japon: come and delight in our Japanese dishes and desserts, all at an affordable price!
- 2pm-5pm: calligraphy workshops, traditional games and origami
- 2pm-5pm: Hyogô Department Office stand in Paris (Tourist promotion of the region and free tasting of local products)

- 1:30pm-2:30pm: Rakugo, L'Art du Conte - Japanese comedy show with Stéphane Ferrandez and Cyril Coppini, professional storytellers
- 2:30pm-3:30pm: Koto, zither - traditional music concert Etsuko Chida, professional player. Accompanied by members of the Dejima Koto Club.
- 3:30pm-4:30pm: Meet Yukio Takatsu - interview with Japanese animator and director Yukio Takatsu
- 4:30pm-5:00pm: Taiko, drum - concert of traditional Taiko music from Hachijô Island
- 5:10-5:45pm:Yosakoi, Japanese dance - performance of Yosakoi group dance, a dance born in Kochi, the island of Shikoku

- Amphitheater 5 - 2pm-5pm: introduction to the sanshin, lute - introductory workshop to the sanshin musical instrument with the Sanshin Club de Paris
- Room 4.07 - 3pm- 5pm: introduction to Rakugo, the art of storytelling Free introduction to the art of Japanese storytelling, rakugo. Presented by Stéphane Ferrandez and Cyril Coppini, professional storytellers
