Immigration and exile in the French novel

Meeting with writers Albien Gakegni, Diadé Dembelé, Cheikhna Aliou Diagana, Fatoumata Sissi Ngom

From the 2000s onwards, French-speaking Africa has seen the development of a literature that essentially deals with the question of exile and immigration. Jacques Chevrier describes this literature as "migritude" literature. It is most often the work of African authors living in the West, such as Alain Mabanckou, Calixte Beyala, Fatou Diome and Samy Tchak.

The aim of the conference is to show how questions of immigration and exile take shape in the French-language novel. To this end, four African writers are invited to talk about their works: the Congolese Gabien Gakegni, the Malian Diadé Dembélé, the Senegalese Fatoumata Sissi and and the Mauritanian Cheikna Aliou Diagana.
