Presentation
In March 2016, an international symposium was held at Inalco called “The first stages of foreign language acquisition: a dialogue between language acquisition and teaching”. This event sought to set up a dialogue between two related disciplines: foreign language acquisition and foreign language teaching. To do so, we focused contributions and debates on a defined subject familiar to all participants: the first stages of foreign language acquisition. Our speakers were asked to respond to the same reference text, based on certain results of the research project entitled “Varieties of Initial Learners in Language Acquisition (VILLA), and to respond on the basis of their personal scientific viewpoints. This work is the result of those discussions.
