World Arabic Language Day 2021, December 17
The Cultural Office at the Saudi Arabian Embassy in France on behalf of its Cultural Counsellor Mr. Saeed Al-Sobeay and Inalco President Mr. Jean-François Huchet join forces to celebrate one of the world's most widely spoken languages, spoken by over 400 million people. The event will take place in the presence of Mr. Jack Lang, President of the Arab World Institute (IMA).
This year's theme: "The Arabic language, a bridge between civilizations" calls for strengthening dialogue between cultures and nations in a digitized, multilingual world.
The World Arabic Language Day has been celebrated every year since December 18, 2012. This date coincides with the adoption of Arabic as the sixth official language of the United Nations, enacted by its General Assembly in 1973.
