This intensive seminar aims to offer a panoramic view of the fields of study, tools and methodological frameworks available, in sociolinguistics, to deal with issues of multi- or plurilingualism.
The fields represented include:
- Societal multilingualism (documenting and theorizing multilingualism as the co-existence of languages in the same space);
- Linguistic repertoires (documenting and theorizing linguistic repertoires at the individual level or at the level of speech communities);
- Linguistic variation (documenting and theorizing variability in languages and the effects of using these resources);
- Plurilingual language practices (documenting and theorizing language blends and their meanings);
- Linguistic ideologies, Plurilingual education, Language policies, Plurilingualism and transnational mobilities.
