MOOC "Czech Language Contact Kit": registration now open!

Are you a curious tourist? A language enthusiast? A professional preparing for a trip to the Czech Republic? This MOOC will help you acquire the basics of the language of a country that is geographically and historically very close to us. Open to all, it will run from March 13 to May 14, 2023. Registration is open until May 1, 2023.

Launched in 2017, Inalco's MOOCs can be accessed worldwide via the France Université Numérique (FUN) platform. These "contact kits" offer beginners cultural cues as well as an oral and written initiation centered around several tasks enabling a first contact in the language: introducing oneself, getting around, finding accommodation, eating, making a purchase...

The "oriental language contact kit": Czech

Very short, practical dialogues will help you acquire the words and automatisms you need for your everyday exchanges. The dialogues are accompanied by grammar points and simple vocabulary. Video activities and written exercises will enable you to check your knowledge and progress. Finally, we'll tell you all about everyday life in the Czech Republic.



By the end of the course, you'll know how to introduce yourself, book a hotel room, buy transport tickets and move around, place an order in a restaurant, and shop for gifts and food.

In short, you'll be ready to stop being strangers in the Czech Republic and make friends!

The MOOC in practice

The course runs from March 13 to May 14, 2023.

It lasts 10 weeks. The pace of work is estimated at 5h per week, i.e. 50h of training.



Each week, you'll find around 1h30 of videos with dialogues, explanations and activities. The course is structured around skits depicting everyday communication situations and short theoretical lectures that develop the elements of grammar, lexicon and civilization.



In addition to teaching practical communication skills, we offer an optional language seminar once a week, which puts the grammar elements covered in the playlets and explanatory videos into a broader theoretical context, including a contrastive perspective, taking into account other Slavic languages close to Czech. The cultural note will not be forgotten, with the presentation of tourist highlights and a special focus on crafts.



Daily exercises and weekly self-corrected tests will enable you to check what you've learnt.
