The CREE (Inalco) and ICEE (Université Sorbonne Nouvelle) research centers pay tribute to Xavier Richet, Emeritus Professor of Economics. The aim of this symposium is to follow in the footsteps of a tireless scientific traveller, more concerned with the real-time study of major economic changes than with the development of a "great theoretical work".

International Conference: "Following the Steps of Xavier Richet: an eclectic and inclusive researcher"

Xavier Richet, professor emeritus at Sorbonne Nouvelle University, left us on Sunday January 16, 2022. This premature death of a central academic figure leaves a great void in the economics research landscape and in particular at Université Sorbonne Nouvelle, where he was Professor Emeritus, as well as at the BRICs seminar organized by Inalco (CREE), in partnership with Université de Paris, EHESS and FMSH.

In a multidisciplinary and inclusive approach intended to reflect Xavier Richet's work, three main themes will be examined by international researchers invited for the occasion, who have frequented and worked with him:

  • Emerging worlds, from Africa to China,
  • Diversity of trajectories and transformation in Europe,
  • Transnational investments and the metamorphoses of the firm
