Ideas Festival Paris 2021
The Festival des idées Paris stimulates the debate of ideas by building bridges between science and society, knowledge and the general public. It gives a voice to researchers, artists, writers, public figures - but also to the general public - at a series of free events designed for as many people as possible, in a warm and friendly atmosphere, over a drink or with friends.
Trying to "repair the future", the 2021 edition tackles several key issues head-on: is green growth a sham? Can we change the way we consume? Does democracy have a future? Is an all-electric future a dead end? Will there be too many of us on Earth? Are feminism and ecology fighting the same battle? Is science fiction still visionary? Are technologies taking us back to the Middle Ages?
In three days, the Festival des idées Paris offers some twenty lively, fast-paced debates lasting 45 minutes each, several workshops for critical thinking and imagination, and original formats to surprise you and think about the world differently.
Guests for the 2021 edition include Dominique Méda, Étienne Davodeau, Roland Lehoucq, Juliette Rousseau, David Djaïz, Vincent Mignerot, Hélène Tordjman, Sébastien Bohler, Lucie Pinson, Catherine Larrère, Jeanne Burgart-Goutal, Ketty Steward, Mathieu Potte-Bonneville, Adélaïde Bon, Hervé Gardette, among many others.
The Festival des idées Paris takes place at La Bellevilloise and Ground Control, as well as at several cultural and university sites in Greater Paris. Most events are also available online.
Inalco's participation in this festival will be represented by the conference Will migration be the great issue of the future? organized by Marie-Caroline Saglio-Yatzimirsky and Cris Beauchemin.
