Creation of the French Institute of Islamology

The presidents of Université de Strasbourg (Unistra), Aix-Marseille Université (AMU), Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (Inalco, Paris), École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE-PSL, Paris) and École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS, Paris) express their satisfaction following the creation of the Groupement d'Intérêt Public "Institut Français d'Islamologie" (IFI) which aims to strengthen high-level non-denominational research, teaching and scientific training in Islamology.

The IFI's mission will also be to promote French research internationally and to act as a link between science and society. The IFI will be headed by Souâd Ayada, Inspector General, currently President of the Conseil supérieur des programmes.
