Teaching
The person recruited will be required to give:
- Arabic language courses (language practice, translation, etc.) in introductory and undergraduate courses;
- Civilization courses (history, Islamology, etc.) in undergraduate and master's courses, within the Department of Arabic Studies or as part of transversals.
The candidate will have a solid background in literary Arabic, and will have demonstrated through their research and experience a solid mastery of Arabic sources, both religious and literary, from the classical, modern and contemporary periods. Experience in teaching Arabic will be appreciated.
Fully involved in the life of the department, they will participate in the coordination of teaching activities in relation with the various teaching teams of the “Arabic Studies” department, and will take part in the preparation of programs, and in the development, monitoring and improvement of curricula. In particular, the candidate will be involved in the Distance Learning Diploma in Islamology, assuming coordinating responsibilities.
The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the development of teaching tools, particularly digital ones, as part of the school's efforts to expand its range of hybrid and distance learning courses. Competence in ICTE and thinking about digital pedagogy is desirable.
They may also be called upon to provide pedagogical and methodological support to students, and to teach in English.

Research
The candidate will consider the convergence between his/her work and Inalco's intellectual and scientific identity, as embodied in the collective projects carried out by the establishment and its research units. Depending on his or her specialties, the teacher-researcher recruited will be able to join the research unit of his or her choice from among Inalco's own teams and UMRs under the (co-)supervision of Inalco, in particular:
The person recruited will be integrated into the Centre de Recherche Moyen-Orient Méditerranée (CERMOM) and his or her work will have to fall within one of the laboratory's axes. His or her research will be in the field of Islamology, broadly defined as all disciplines concerned with Islamic religion and/or civilization (fundamental Islamology, history, language, philosophy, art history, codicology, etc.).The candidate will consider the convergence between his/her work and INALCO's intellectual and scientific identity, as embodied in the collective projects carried out by the institution and its research units. In particular, he/she will participate in the consolidation and development of projects in Islamology and/or Arabic language and religious sciences. He/she will assume responsibilities in national and international projects concerning Islamology in which INALCO is involved (notably those of the Institut Français d'Islamologie), according to his/her specialty and disciplinary anchorage.
