Presentation of Andrus Kivirähk's collection of short stories, "Le Loup bouilli", translated from Estonian by Inalco students.

Andrus Kivirähk (b. 1970) is one of Estonia's best-known and most-translated contemporary writers. Four of his works have already appeared in French, including the novels L'homme qui savait la langue des serpents and Les Groseilles de novembre. A bilingual collection of five of his tales will be published in March by L'Asiathèque. Translated as part of Inalco's Estonian courses, these texts revisit myths or canonical works. The first four give a wacky follow-up to famous tales. They include the wolf who falls into the Three Little Pigs' cooking pot, the Snow Queen who shapes a strange monster to terrorize humans, Little Thumb who runs into trouble after marrying the Prince of Flowers, and Pinocchio who is tortured by an impossible love. The last tale, meanwhile, recounts the disastrous consequences of the Last Judgment and the resurrection of the dead for the maggot people!

The presentation of the texts and the translation work will be followed by a bilingual reading of one of the tales. The evening will continue with a drink. It will be possible to buy the book on site as a preview (official release March 12).
