DEPHI 2030 (Development of Executive Education and Philanthropy at Inalco) is a project dedicated to accelerating philanthropy and continuing education. Spearheaded by the Inalco Foundation and the Continuing Education Department, its mission is to strengthen the institution's skills in order to better disseminate and promote the knowledge and expertise available at Inalco to the socio-economic world (associations, companies, NGOs, public administrations and private individuals).

What is DEPHI called?

Winner of the "France 2030" call for projects entitled "Accelerating the Strategies of Higher Education and Research Establishments", the project DEPHI 2030 has been awarded 4.1 million euros over the period 2023-2031 to recruit new staff in support of patronage and lifelong learning.

Beyond recruitment, for which "France 2030" funds have been earmarked, the aim of DEPHI 2030 is to strengthen the establishment's skills to better disseminate and promote the knowledge and expertise present at Inalco to the socio-economic world (associative milieu, companies, NGOs, public administrations but also private individuals).

What activities will be promoted?

Everywhere in the world we see the most formidable challenges (environmental, health, socio-economic, security, etc.) multiplying. At the same time, new frontiers are being erected, making it more difficult to address them on the right scale. To analyze and adapt to these challenges, the human sciences are fully relevant - and more and more private and public organizations around the world are recognizing this.

Backed by the richness of its research and its position as an international crossroads for knowledge on languages and civilizations, Inalco is making its contribution to a better understanding of contemporary upheavals. The mission of the DEPHI teams will be to encourage and support any type of project and contribution emanating from the community of teachers, researchers and staff at Inalco and participating in the establishment's missions. Anything is therefore possible.

Which entities will carry DEPHI?

Newly created, the Fondation Inalco is at the heart of the DEPHI project. It is the operator on behalf of Inalco. Alongside it, the new Direction de la formation continue is also involved. The DEPHI team will be made up of people recruited by these two entities, who will work together to raise the profile of Inalco's educational, scientific and societal projects.

Indicative examples of projects that could be supported as part of DEPHI 2030

  • Philanthropy: lecture series, mobility grants for students, documentation of endangered heritage,...
  • Executive Education:flash training for diplomats before they take up their post abroad, training for associative and administrative executives in connection with Inalco's areas of expertise,...

What are DEPHI's areas of focus?

1. DEPHI Patronage - development of philanthropy
The main aim of the project is to provide the Inalco Foundation with the means to develop patronage and philanthropy for the institution on a long-term basis. The three missions that Inalco has entrusted to its foundation (support for research, teaching and the institution's contribution to society) will benefit from these new resources. As a result, more projects will be able to be supported by DEPHI teams trained in project management, communication and fundraising - particularly internationally.

2. DEPHI Exed - developing executive education
Lifelong learning (continuing education) is one of Inalco's strong points. It will be strengthened by the DEPHI teams, who will be able to raise the institution's profile in the socio-economic world by working with Inalco's teaching and research staff to develop high-level training programs for executives ("Executive Education") from government departments, associations, NGOs and companies, who are facing growing needs to renew their knowledge and skills in subjects at the heart of Inalco's business.

The programs of DEPHI 2030 will be nourished by the projects of Inalco's teachers, researchers and staff, who will find dedicated and seasoned teams to support them and promote their projects to the socio-economic world. In this way, Inalco will strengthen its reputation and attractiveness, while generating new resources for the benefit of the entire community.
