There were 3,278 new "first-time" students at Inalco for a total of 7,992 students in 2013/2014.
Definition
First-time students (41% of the student population) are all new students at Inalco who may or may not have already followed a course of study at another institution.

There are two types of new entrants
Neo-baccalaureate students (606) who obtained their BAC in 2013 and are registering for the first time at Inalco.
Other new entrants (2672) who have already followed a course of study at another institution.

The shock figure!
17% of first-time students at Inalco were neo-bacheliers in 2013/2014, whereas the national average for new bacheliers to enroll in higher education is 75%!
A discrepancy that can be explained by the specific nature of our establishment and the profiles of new entrants.
Many students come to Inalco to complete a course of study already acquired or for a repeat.
Others come just for the pleasure of language and civilization.
