Exhibition "Tina Modotti. L'oeil de la révolution" at Jeu de Paume

The life of Tina Modotti (Udine, Italy, 1896 - Mexico City, 1942) was marked by some of the most important historical events of the first half of the 20th century: the economic emigration of Europeans to America, the birth of silent cinema on the US West Coast, post-revolutionary agrarian movements in Mexico, the rise of political muralism, the reclamation of indigenous Mexican culture, the emancipation of women in the public sphere, the opposition between Stalinists and Trotskyists after the Russian Revolution of 1917 and the Spanish Civil War.
Exhibition "Shamanic Visions. Arts of Ayahuasca in the Peruvian Amazon" at the musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac

A hallucinogenic beverage prepared from plants, ayahuasca is used by the indigenous populations of the Peruvian Amazon as part of shamanic practices. This exhibition explores, on different cultural and geographical scales, the relationship between the "visions" aroused by this beverage and artistic production.
Exhibition "East and Southeast Asian Immigrations since 1860" at the Palais de la Porte Dorée

From 1860 to the present day, the exhibition traces the collective as well as individual trajectories of migrants from East and Southeast Asia and their descendants, in step with the major upheavals of the contemporary world. The persistence of stereotypes over time, invisibilization and discrimination, as well as the struggles and initiatives aimed at denouncing them, are all part of this story. Works, objects, archives and personal accounts weave the thread of this narrative, blending great History with the singular experiences of migrants and their descendants.

Exhibition "Parfums d'Orient" at the Institut du Monde Arabe

Manuscripts, miniatures, textiles, paintings, photographs, installations, videos... nearly 200 works, as well as the raw materials at the sources of perfumes, recount the importance of fragrances, ointments, oils, balms, waters or fumigations in the cultural, social and intimate practices of the Arab world. Their dialogue reveals the extent to which perfume permeates traditions and still permeates daily life today. The Institut du Monde Arabe invites you on a fabulous journey to discover the perfumes of the Orient and their history. Over 1,000 m2 of exhibition space, combining ancient and contemporary works.
"Bollywood Superstars" exhibition at musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac

The exhibition traces a century of Indian cinema history, from its mythological and artistic sources to the cult of its actors and actresses, the new gods of the screen. With over 1,500 films a year, the Indian film industry is the largest in the world. From the first silent films of the 1920s, inspired by Hindu stories, to contemporary blockbusters driven by their superstars, Indian cinemas arouse unrivalled popular fervour. To retrace this century of history, the exhibition brings together works of art, historical objects and large-screen projections in an immersive scenography.

In the run-up to the 2024 Olympic Games, Paris' Musée des Arts décoratifs presents an exhibition exploring the fascinating links between fashion and sport, from antiquity to the present day. 450 pieces of clothing and accessories, photographs, sketches, magazines, posters, paintings, sculptures and videos shed light on the evolution of sportswear and its influence on contemporary fashion.

Exhibition "Zanele Muholi" at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie

The Maison Européenne de la Photographie presents the first retrospective in France devoted to Zanele Muholi, a South African-born photographer and activist whose work documents the lives of the black LGBTQIA+ community and the individuals who make it up. This major event, which brings together over 200 photographs, videos and installations created since the early 2000s, as well as numerous archival documents, covers the full scope of Muholi's career to date. In her individual and collective portraits, the artist seeks to make visible queer and racialized people, while questioning the stereotypes and dominant representations associated with them. Muholi's photographs show the diversity and singularity of members of the community, highlighting their courage, their dignity in the face of multiple discriminations.

Dazzling costumes, jerky rhythms and singing jousts: the exhibition pays tribute to the extraordinary creativity of Louisiana's African-Americans through the Black Indians parades. Thanks to a geographical and chronological journey punctuated by interviews, contemporary costumes and traditional works, Black Indians of New Orleans reveals a singular culture, built by over three centuries of resistance against the assaults of social and racial domination, still present today.
