Inalco's language MOOC
Quechua MOOC
This MOOC is a course in Southern Quechua, a language spoken by around 4.2 million people in southern Peru, Bolivia, and northern Chile and Argentina. The course focuses on three variants of the language spoken in Peru and Bolivia, with an emphasis on intercomprehension between these variants. The program lasts 6 weeks. Each week begins with a video dialogue in Quechua, around which the pedagogical content is built. The course is organized into 5 modules, each following the same progression:
- Introduction to vocabulary (with audio and illustrations), followed by exercises designed to facilitate memorization.
- Grammatical explanations to understand the structure of the language.
- Exercises based on the initial dialogue to deepen comprehension.
Starting in week 3, an interview with a native Quechua speaker (subtitled in French, Spanish or English) immerses learners in Andean culture. Each week ends with exercises to assess progress.
