Freedom - its key words and features in the three areal spaces

To coincide with the publication of Pierre-Antoine Donnet's book "Taïwan, survivre libres", we're organizing a meeting-debate crossing three areal spaces: Taiwan, Tibet and Ukraine.

This meeting will propose a comparative reflection on the specific political and historical situations of these three areal spaces, questioning the notion of freedom. The discussion will revolve around key words serving as common anchor points, to highlight both the convergences and singularities of these trajectories. Through these exchanges, the aim will be to think of freedom not as an abstract concept, but as a lived experience, inscribed in concrete political, cultural and linguistic realities.

Three speakers will be invited to cross their views and expertise: Pierre-Antoine Donnet, journalist and author; Françoise Robin, teacher-researcher and specialist on Tibet; and Iryna Dmytrychyn, teacher-researcher and specialist on Ukraine. Together, they will offer a plural and in-depth analysis of contemporary forms of resistance, survival and the affirmation of freedom.

This event is organized in partnership with Asia Magazine, Asialyst and Asia Centre.
