A look back at the symposium "Prince Damrong Rajanubhab and George Cœdès. Collaborations and crossed views."

Wednesday May 15 was held the colloquium "Le Prince Damrong Rajanubhab et George Cœdès. Collaborations et regards croisés sur l'histoire du royaume de Siam". The aim of the symposium was to look back at the careers of these two 20th-century scholars, who collaborated to retrace the genesis of Thailand. Through their numerous writings and scientific works, they worked to develop historical knowledge about Siam and neighboring countries.
This colloquium was inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, who honored Inalco, the Inalco Foundation and the EFEO with her presence.

To complement this symposium, the EFEO is organizing an exhibition. Comprising twenty-six photographs, the exhibition traces the journey of the two scholars - in Siam, Cambodia and France - as they carried out fieldwork, attended ceremonies, took part in official delegations or posed with their families. The exhibition takes place at the EFEO and will be open until June 30.
