Launch of a MOOC in the Malagasy language

Since their launch in 2017, Inalco's MOOCs have been very popular. Accessible worldwide via the platform France Université Numérique (FUN), these contact kits offer beginners a few cultural cues as well as an oral and written initiation centered around several tasks enabling a first contact in the language: introducing oneself, getting around, finding accommodation, eating, making a purchase...

2 new MOOCs for learning Malagasy and Hebrew have just been added to those on Arabic, Chinese and Czech languages.

The "contact kit in oriental languages": Malagasy

Very short practical dialogues, accompanied by grammar points and simple vocabulary, enable you to acquire the words and automatisms needed for everyday exchanges: introducing yourself, booking a hotel room, communicating for travel (buying a place, negotiating a price,...), placing an order in a restaurant and buying objects or food.

With a different lesson each day, it also offers a discovery of everyday life in Madagascar.

Pre-requisites

No prior knowledge of Malagasy is required.
Level in French: mastery of the linguistic terminology used in secondary education.

The MOOC in practice

The course runs from May 16 to July 11, 2022.
It lasts 8 weeks: six weeks of training and two additional weeks to make your approach more flexible. The pace of work is estimated at 6h per week, i.e. 48h of training.

The daily work program consists of a set of teaching resources:

• pedagogical videos,
• oral and written exercises, to check knowledge acquired
• quizzes graded to test progress,
• an exchange forum

Tests scheduled each week enable self-evaluation and preparation for the final certification exam, which is not compulsory.
