What if preserving endangered languages and cultures could also help preserve the planet? LANG-PACT explores the essential, but often overlooked, link between linguistic and cultural diversity and sustainable well-being.
Founded on the conviction that each language harbors unique ecological knowledge, cultural memory and ways of life, this project brings together researchers and students from five EUniWell partner universities.

LANG-PACT is one of the winning programs of the EUniWell Funding Programme (EUniWell Seed Funding Programme). It responds to this silent crisis by documenting how linguistic and cultural heritage contributes to personal and collective well-being.

The project supports EUniWell's commitment to multilingualism, inclusion and ecological transition by offering a fresh interdisciplinary perspective on how linguistic and cultural diversity underpins a sustainable future, emotionally, socially and environmentally.

Inalco was delighted to welcome PhD students and researchers from the universities of Nantes, Birmingham, Murcia and Florence to the launch of the first workshop on October 6 and 7.

During two days of rich and stimulating exchanges, participants collectively reflected on the contemporary challenges of language and cultural preservation and their impact on well-being, both in academia and in our societies at large.

In the spirit of science for society, this project aims to offer new and innovative perspectives through inspiring surveys, videos and lectures.
Through filmed interviews, digital storytelling and open-access educational resources, LANG-PACT will enable academic communities and the general public to rediscover language as a key component of environmental resilience, mental health and inclusive education. By engaging diverse voices, the project invites us to reflect on how language shapes our care for each other and the world we share.

"EUniWell Seed Funding Programme" supports initiatives that are in line with EUniWell's core mission: to understand, measure, rebalance and improve wellbeing within universities and society as a whole. The Seed Funding Programme helps deepen our mutual ties and create innovative ideas to promote wellbeing, strengthen existing collaborations between EUniWell partners or initiate new ones.
