General profile

The position corresponds to the profile of a senior researcher-teacher of international stature, specialized in the fields of strategic communication and organizational communication in a digital and international context, and capable of studying their issues in a decentralized way in one of the cultural areas characterizing Inalco.

Inalco is a unique institution in the world in terms of the wealth of languages and civilizations studied, calling on a wide variety of specialists in SHS for this purpose. The Institute's vocation is to develop expertise in cultural areas. Its teaching and research activities in information and communication sciences are therefore aimed at understanding the areal challenges facing this discipline, and studying how cultural contexts affect the theory and practice associated with it.

The Intercultural and International Communication (Com2i) program brings together students from the different cultural areas taught at Inalco, and aims to enrich their outlook through disciplinary courses and group work offering them the opportunity to cross-area approaches to issues in information and communication sciences.

The courses and seminars to be taught require the future PU to master the main theoretical paradigms of strategic organizational communication in a digital, intercultural and international context. Particular attention is paid to mastering methods from language sciences (semiotics, pragmatics, discourse analysis), information and communication sciences (e.g. methods from data engineering, digital psychology and sociology, digital marketing, media and network analysis, etc.) and STS (Science and Technology).) and STS (Science and Technology Studies) to lead projects on the dimension of production-collection, processing, analysis and valorization-patrimonialization of heterogeneous (massive) data (documenting an actor, an organization, a cultural formation, a geopolitical area) and on the digital transformation of actors in communication or culture in their international dimension.

The PU is expected to have proven scientific competence and practical and professional experience of digital communication ecosystems at local, national and international levels, as well as of the new scientific, technological and practical challenges of strategic communication linked to digital humanities, "big data" and artificial intelligence.

As Com2i students regularly work in the communication/marketing, culture, cultural industries and luxury sectors, the candidate's preferred research sectors or professional networks could include these areas.

As Inalco students are required to work internationally, the candidate will be fluent in English and a language taught at Inalco, and will demonstrate international experience and networking. Ideally, the candidate will have a network of contacts in internationalized companies, international organizations or consulting, communications and project development agencies working for these organizations.

The candidate will be required to work in tandem with the program director, a senior lecturer specializing in international communication and influence, public diplomacy and economic intelligence, as well as with the holder of a junior professorship shared between the Com2i program and the International Relations (IR) program, who will be responsible for courses related to the geopolitics of information, disinformation, OSINT and digital humanities.

It is important that the candidate brings to the course complementary skills and scientific network, linked to the digital communication sector per se. The candidate will need to be able to provide theoretical course content, including an introduction to research methods, as well as practical case studies and the implementation of student projects in conjunction with public and private players in the sector.

Teaching

The candidate may, depending on his or her skills and in consultation with the teaching team, teach courses in scientific methodology, data collection and analysis, as well as theoretical and practical courses related to the discipline, at master's and bachelor's level, for example the introductory course on the digital environment of communication or courses in communication project methodology.

He or she may, depending on his or her specialist discipline, carry out part of his or her service in cross-disciplinary teaching within the branch or at institutional level at bachelor's and master's levels.
He or she will be expected to contribute to the development of teaching tools, particularly digital ones, as part of the development of the establishment's hybrid or distance learning offer. Competence in ICTE and reflection on digital pedagogy is desirable.
He or she is likely to be involved in pedagogical and methodological support for students, and to teach in English.

In the latter, he or she will be able to integrate more specifically axe 6 "Innovations méthodologiques et médiations de l'information numérique", directed by Mylène Hardy and Peter Stockinger.

The candidate is expected to have experience in setting up R&D projects (ANR, European projects, ...) and to be motivated to get involved in setting up new projects, in consultation with PLIDAM colleagues or other teams.

The candidate will consider the convergence between his or her work and Inalco's intellectual and scientific identity, as embodied in the collective projects carried out by the establishment and its research units.
