Teaching

The professor of Jewish philosophy and thought will teach the most significant works and currents of Jewish thought in the periods commonly referred to as "Middle Ages", "Renaissance and modern times", "contemporary times". He or she will need to be able to relate it both to the major texts of Jewish tradition (Bible, rabbinic literature) and to general intellectual contexts.

Non-strictly philosophical forms of thought, such as qabbalah in its various aspects and currents, will also form part of his or her teaching. Much of the teaching will be based on texts written in or translated into Hebrew, taking into account the students' linguistic level.
In the Master's program, the teacher will focus on a particular theme, current or author.
Given the importance of Arabic and German for the discipline taught, knowledge of one of these two languages will be a major asset.
He or she may be required to teach civilization courses that do not depend solely on the field of philosophy.
Like all his/her colleagues, he/she will be required to carry out administrative tasks within the Department and/or the Establishment.

The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the development of pedagogical tools, particularly digital ones, as part of the establishment's development of hybrid or distance teaching offerings. Competence in ICTE and reflection on digital pedagogy is desirable.
He or she may, depending on his or her specialist discipline, provide part of his or her service in cross-disciplinary teaching within his or her department or across the establishment at bachelor's and master's levels.
He or she is likely to be involved in the pedagogical and methodological support of students and to teach in English.

Research

The CERMOM considers the existence of an experienced teacher-researcher in this discipline to be an absolute necessity for the team, which would otherwise find itself deprived of an important and particularly significant part of research on Hebraic and Jewish civilization.
The research team also draws attention to the collaborations that the colleague will have with Arabist colleagues (but also with Persian and Turkish colleagues) specializing in Islamology and religious literature, which have been one of the strong points of CERMOM's joint activities and will need to continue.
The "Translations, Transfers, Adaptations" research axis, and in particular the "Concepts and Representations" sub-axis, seems to us the most appropriate for the research activities of the next PU in Jewish philosophy and thought.

The candidate will consider the convergence between his or her work and Inalco's intellectual and scientific identity, as embodied in the collective projects carried out by the establishment and its research units. Depending on his or her specialties, the teacher-researcher recruited will be able to join the research unit of his or her choice from among Inalco's own teams and UMRs under the (co)supervision of Inalco, in particular:
