Teaching

Preferably a specialist in modern or contemporary literature, the recruited teacher will teach language courses (literal Arabic) and Arabic literature from the introductory year to the Master's degree, in coordination with the teaching team. He or she will supervise research work at Master's level. He or she may also be called upon to help prepare students for the competitive teaching exams. The candidate may be entrusted with the coordination of the Arabic MEEF master's degree.

He or she will need to demonstrate in-depth reflection on the didactics of the Arabic language on the one hand, and that of Arabic literature and the tools of literary analysis on the other. Solid experience in teaching Arabic as a foreign language in higher education is particularly desirable. Experience in secondary education will be appreciated.
Plearly involved in the life of the department, he or she will participate in the coordination of teaching in liaison with the various teaching teams in the "Arab Studies" department, and will take part in the preparation of programs, and the elaboration, monitoring and improvement of mock-ups.

He or she will also be involved in the creation of digital teaching resources and the development of distance learning (teaching materials and documents in the context of ICTE; hybridization of courses in Arabic language and literature; etc.).).
He or she will be likely to teach in English.

Research

The candidate will consider the convergence between his/her work and Inalco's intellectual and scientific identity, as embodied in the collective projects carried out by the establishment (notably the DECRIPT program) and its research units. Depending on their specialties, the teacher-researcher recruited will be able to join the research unit of their choice among Inalco's own teams and UMRs under the (co)supervision of Inalco, in particular the CERMOM

The person recruited as MCF will be expected to focus his or her research on issues related to Arabic literature, in liaison with the CERMOM's axes (Centre de Recherches Moyen-Orient Méditerranée, EA 4091) so as to be part of the center's collective research dynamics. He or she will demonstrate an ability to conduct innovative research, focusing on genres, texts, their transformations and literariness, or certain major aspects of Arabic literature. He or she will contribute to strengthening research in Arabic language and literature, in particular by:
- organizing and participating in seminars, colloquia and study days;
- setting up and financing projects;
- contributing to collective publications or international scientific events;
- participating in the organization and management of cooperative programs with other foreign research institutions.
Depending on his/her research specialties, the person recruited may also join another Inalco team of his/her choice.
