Literary encounter hosted by Catherine Coquio

A literary dialogue between Krikor Beledian, a major figure of Armenian literature in Western Armenian, and Sonia Bekmezian, his translator. The meeting will be punctuated by cross-readings, carried by the voices of Krikor Beledian and Sonia Bekmezian. A rare moment when original language and translation respond to each other, when writing is transformed and transmitted.

Catherine Coquio, professor of comparative literature at Université Denis-Diderot and author of several books including La littérature en suspens and Le mal de vérité, will review Beledian's impressive oeuvre, including his multi-volume autobiographical series, of which Nom, the latest opus, was published on April 4, 2025 (Classiques Garnier).

A symbolic event taking place in the school where Krikor Beledian taught and where Sonia Bekmezian was his student.
