Inalco's Sustainable Development and Social and Environmental Responsibility Master Plan (SD DD&RSE) is the result of a participatory consultation process conducted within the Inalco Environmental and Social Convention between November 2023 and November 2024.

The Convention was made up of some thirty representatives of students, continuing education trainees, teachers and lecturers, administrative staff, former students and representatives of Inalco's partners, recruited on a voluntary basis. It drew up, discussed and voted on a series of proposals for action which are included in the present master plan.

All these proposals were voted unanimously by the Conventionnels. They were the subject of intermediary exchanges with Inalco's Central Councils and the management team, which assumed final political responsibility and presented it for vote to the institution's Board of Directors on January 31, 2025.

Inalco's SD DD&RSE is a document that commits the Inalco community over the long term. It is intended to be enriched during its implementation period (2025-2030). It is structured into five areas: Governance and Strategy, Teaching and Training, Research and Innovation, Environmental Impact of Activities, Social Policy and Quality of Life at Work. It comprises 24 objectives broken down into 62 actions. For each action, there is a timeframe for completion, political support, administrative and operational management, and an estimate of the financial resources to be allocated. Planned actions range from reducing greenhouse gas emissions to mobilizing partners to raise funds for environmental projects supported by the establishment, including the adoption by research units of an environmental charter, the creation of prizes for student theses devoted to environmental and societal issues, and the implementation of a staff training plan for teamwork management.

Inalco's vice-president in charge of valorization and environmental responsibility is in charge of monitoring this master plan.
