Summary:
How do China and Russia engage the Global South in the information space, and what does comparing the two reveal? Maria Repnikova (Georgia State University) and Maxime Audinet (INALCO), who work respectively on Chinese soft power and Russian information influence in Africa, will reflect on the possible cross-learning between Chinese and Russian influence strategies. They will also discuss methodological challenges raised by their ongoing projects, including digital fieldwork on sensitive terrains. Designed as a workshop, this session, chaired by Jérôme Doyon (Sciences Po, CERI), will open into a collective exchange on the possibilities and limits of the China-Russia comparison.
