Tashkent and the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute
Agreements signed with three Tashkent universities
As part of the visit to France by M. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on Wednesday October 10 at the Uzbek Embassy in Paris, the President of Inalco signed agreements with three Uzbek higher education and research establishments in Tashkent:
- The State Institute of Orientalism
- The University of World Economy and Diplomacy
- The Alisher Navoi State University of Uzbek Language and Literature
The signing of these new agreements is fully in line with the forthcoming reopening of an Uzbek language course at Inalco, thus expanding its Turkic languages offering.
Renewal of agreement with Institut Sorbonne-Kazakhstan
Founded in 1928, the Kazak National Pedagogical Abai University (KazNPU) is Kazakhstan's oldest university and the country's largest pedagogical university, today bringing together more than seven hundred students across eleven faculties, sixty-four departments and ten research institutes. It therefore celebrated its 90th anniversary in October 2018.
On this occasion, Madame Manuelle Franck, President of INALCO, visited Almaty to sign the renewal of the agreement linking Abai University and Sorbonne Paris Cité University, as part of the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute founded in 2014. INALCO is responsible for training in international relations.
The aim is to extend this Franco-Kazakh university cooperation, in which more than a hundred students are currently involved, to other universities in both countries, several of which have already shown a keen interest in the project.
