Publication of “Am I a refugee?”

Between 2011 and 2024, more than 6 million people had to leave Syria. Many of them took refuge in neighbouring countries, notably Turkey and Jordan.

Based on numerous interviews and a critical observation of the humanitarian organisations she joined, the author describes the survival strategies adopted by people in exile in these two countries. Although they suffer discrimination because of their status, this discrimination is not the same for everyone, as it intersects with other aspects of their identity. Their survival strategies are therefore themselves shaped by social relations of race, class and gender.
