MOOC ‘Turkish Language Starter Pack’: registration opens on 7 September!
Launched in 2017, the Inalco MOOCs are available worldwide on the platform France Université Numérique (FUN). The “Oriental Languages Contact Kit”: Turkish
The first Oriental language taught in France during the reign of the Sun King in 1669!
Short filmed dialogues will help you pick up the words and automatic responses you need for everyday conversation. The dialogues will be accompanied by grammar points and a glossary. Written exercises will allow you to test your knowledge and track your progress.
In short, you’ll be ready to stop feeling like a stranger in Turkey and to make friends there. In this country renowned for its hospitality, you’ll be made to feel even more welcome!

What you will learn
By the end of the course, you will be able to :
- introduce yourself,
- book a hotel room,
- buy travel tickets and get around,
- order food in a restaurant,
- buying gifts, clothes and food.
Format
The MOOC lasts 6 weeks, including an introductory week. The course is organised into five parts, comprising:
- dialogues,
- educational grammar videos,
- written exercises, unmarked and with answers,
- a vocabulary list,
- a forum
The supporting resources provide information and explanations about the language system, as well as a glossary containing common terms and expressions.
Assessment and certification
Achieving a pass mark of 60 per cent in the marked exercises will enable you to obtain a free completion badge certifying your attendance and learning outcomes.
If you wish, you can sit a fee-paying, remotely supervised exam to obtain an official certificate worth 4 ECTS credits.
