Inalco students in cultural mediation at the Guimet museum
This evening was an opportunity for them to take part in Manga. Tout un art !, an exhibition event exploring the birth and evolution of Japanese comics, from their origins to their international influence. The exhibition features a dialogue between manga plates, prints and works from the museum's collections, highlighting the links between contemporary creation and Japanese art history.
Prior to the event, the selected students discovered the exhibition itinerary and each selected two objects or showcases to present to the public. They then received training in cultural mediation from Cécile Becker, head of the Musée Guimet's cultural mediation and public outreach department, and Hélène Baudelet, deputy head of the cultural outreach department.
Based on the exhibition catalog, in-room labels and personal research, the students prepared their speeches in order to offer visitors accessible, contextualized mediation enriched by their linguistic and cultural knowledge.
This collaboration illustrates Inalco's commitment to professionalizing its students and immersing them in cultural and museum contexts.
