Frosa Pejoska-Bouchereau, winner of the "Blaže Koneski" gold medal
On October 8, 2021, the anniversary of its founding, the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts awarded the "Blaže Koneski" Gold Medal, the highest international recognition, to Frosa Pejoska-Bouchereau, a university professor specializing in Macedonian literature and civilization, for her work and activities in the field of Macedonian language, literature and civilization.
Eminent academician Katica Kulavkova, the laureate's sponsor for the award, represented her with a presentation on her work at the ceremony.
Biography
Frosa Pejoska-Bouchereau, University Professor, qualified in Macedonian language, literature and civilization, is head of the Macedonian Studies section, co-director of the "Oralité" master's degree and of the "Literature and culture in language didactics" axis of the PLIDAM-Pluralité des Langues et des Identités : Didactique - Acquisition - Médiations (Inalco), which she founded. She has been director of Inalco's Doctoral School, deputy director of PLIDAM, vice-president of CNU section 13 - Slavic Studies, and director of the Europe Department. She is editor-in-chief and member of the scientific committee of the journal Les Cahiers balkaniques. She translates theater and poetry. She is co-founder and head of a European Campus: Languages and translations, francophonie and Slavic itineraries. Her research focuses on the metamorphosis of the imaginary under the influence of the cultural phenomenon of emigration, on the novel of strangulation and strangulated forms in literature - a concept she coined in 1995, and on anthropological phenomena that transform the human into a foreigner (petchalbar, janissary, mameluke).
She also leads the Strengthening and Prospects for Cooperation in the Balkans and is at the initiative of obtaining in 2022 the label "Discipline rare" for Macedonian studies.

The prix Blaže Koneski is all the more important as he is Macedonia's most outstanding intellectual figure of the twentieth century. Poet, philologist, prose writer, essayist, translator, literary historian and university professor, he was the first president of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU), hence the celebration of the prize on the anniversary of the Academy's creation. He is one of the codifiers of the modern Macedonian language. He has written a grammar of the Macedonian language and a history of the Macedonian language. He is also editor-in-chief of the Dictionary of the Macedonian Language.
