Death of Nguyen Tan Tai-Luc, teacher of Lao and Tai-Kadai languages at Inalco
Nguyen Tan Tai-Luc was born on August 10, 1958, in Suresnes, to a Vietnamese father and a French mother.
Known to the public as the leader of the rock band La Souris Déglinguée, our school also remembers the teacher he was. After defending a thesis in 2000, under the supervision of Professor Gilles Delouche, entitled Contribution à l'étude des langues tai : le cas du dai de Xishuangbanna, he had in fact been involved as a lecturer for several years, and in particular gave introductory courses in Tai-Kadai languages and ancient and modern Lao within the Southeast Asia and Pacific department. Passionate about the study and teaching of the Lü language, he devoted a method to it published by L'Harmattan, entitled Parlons lü, la langue taï des Douze mille rizières du Yunnan (2008).
With this message, we would like to pay tribute to him today. We join in the grief of his loved ones and all those who knew him.
