CERMOM press release

The CERMOM (Centre d'Etudes et de Recherches sur le Moyen-Orient et la Méditerranée/Inalco) has learned of the cancellation, following pressure from the Minister of Higher Education, of the colloquium "Palestine and Europe" organized by the Chair of Contemporary History of the Arab World at the Collège de France and CAREP (Centre arabe de recherches et d'études politiques).
Many of its members were due to speak at the event. CERMOM expresses its solidarity with these colleagues and more generally with all those who organized this scientific event or were due to take part in it.
Worried about the repeated attacks on academic freedom in France and convinced of the need to maintain spaces for academic exchange and dialogue, CERMOM hopes that the colloquium can be held serenely at another venue on the scheduled date.
