2026 Elections to the Board of Directors, Scientific Council and Departmental Councils

Alongside the staff elections taking place from 3 to 10 December 2026, the general elections for the Board of Directors, the Scientific Council and the departmental councils will take place from 2 December 2026.

Elections for representatives to the CA and CS

First round: from 2 to 4 December 2026

Possible second round: from 9 to 11 December 2026

These elections will be held online (e-voting).

The Board of Directors and the Scientific Council are the central bodies responsible for determining the institute’s general policy and establishing its rules of procedure. Students, teaching staff and administrative staff play an important role within these bodies, and only a high turnout will ensure that their representatives have legitimate standing during debates.

The electoral rolls will be displayed on the noticeboards on the 4th-floor walkway of the Centre for Languages and Civilisations from 2 November 2026 and can also be viewed at the elections office (4.41) and at the reception desk on the ground floor of the Centre for Languages and Civilisations.

Nomination forms (to be submitted from 9 to 16 November 2026) are available from the elections office (4.41).

Elections for representatives to the Departmental Councils:

Each department at INALCO has a council. Issues specific to the running of each department are discussed there with the student representatives. Tenured or trainee lecturers from Colleges A and B are automatically assigned to the departmental councils. Lecturers from College C (contract staff) and students are elected to these councils.

With the aim of increasing participation in all elections, these have been scheduled to take place simultaneously.
Elections to the departmental councils will therefore take place at the same time as the first round of elections to the central councils (the Governing Board and the Scientific Council).
A single ballot (single round): from 2 to 4 December 2026

Nomination forms (to be submitted from 9 to 16 November 2026) are available from the elections office (4.41).

All students enrolled in a degree programme offered by this department are eligible to vote and stand for election to the student representatives’ college of the Departmental Council .

There are no elections for College C in the 2026 election (elections in 2025).

Voting takes place online (e-voting).
Students will receive an email containing a username, a link to create a password and the link to the website where voting will take place. All of this information will be sent to the email address provided at the time of enrolment.
