Cipango is today the only scientific journal devoted to Japan to be published in France, and is in fact a benchmark in the field of Japanese studies. It welcomes articles by researchers attached to French institutions, as well as, very regularly, contributions from foreign specialists, mainly Japanese, European and American.
A multidisciplinary journal in the field of humanities and social sciences (history, ethnology, geography, economics, linguistics, literature, arts, cinema...), Cipango favors in-depth studies using mainly original Japanese-language sources, but also offers translations (scientific or literary texts, historical documents), as well as, to a lesser extent, essays and testimonials.

Cipango also gives pride of place to research news, reviews of scientific works as well as summaries of theses and dissertations written in French. As such, it is a valuable journal for young researchers.

Each issue is organized around a thematic dossier that has been the subject of a call for contributions. However, it cannot be reduced to a single issue. As such, all article proposals are considered, whatever the theme.
